For the visitor who wants to see the most important monuments but also get the feeling of the unique character of the city of Athens we offer you this 8h value for money excursion.
The Guided Tour starts as soon as the bus leaves the pier. Passing through Piraeus on your way to Athens you will see the picturesque ports of Microlimano and Kastella and The Peace and Friendship stadium. Arriving at the center of Athens, after a 30 min. trip, your professionally trained guide will comment on the city's historical elements as you are viewing sights such as The Hadrian Arch of Triumph, The marble Panathenian Olympic Stadium, where you will be given time to take photos, The Temple of Zeus, The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the former Royal Palace which is now The Greek House of Parliament. You will also see The Athenian Trilogy on Panepistimou str. which is cosisted by The University of Athens, The Academy of Athens and The National Library. After that the bus will drop you off in front of the statue of Melina Mercury in Dionissiou Aeropagitou str. at Plaka. This will also be your meeting point before the final departure to return to Piraeus.
From there your guide will lead you to the New Acropolis Museum where you can walk on a glass surface viewing The ancient city of Athens under your feet. Besides the museum exhibits on the top floor you will be able to take a good look at The Parthenon through the glass walls of the museum. For those who do not wish to climb all the way up to The Acropolis this is the next best way to admire this superb monument which is recognized as the culmination of Greek Architecture.
Leaving the Acropolis museum next comes the guided tour on the Acropolis Hill. For those who do not wish to climb up to the rock there would be extra free time in the Plaka area. Climbing up The Hill there will be several stops made, for your guide to explain and you to admire the monuments of Herodion Music Theater, Pnyka, Philopapous Hill, Marsh Hill or Areos Pagos, The Ancient Agora, The Temple of Nike, The Propilaia, The Erechthion, and finally The Parthenon.
Free time enough to explore the acropolis Hill on your own and Plaka, the old town of Athens, will be offered before departure. At the designated time and place your guide will be waiting to take you to the bus and to escort you back to Piraeus port. On the way back your guide will be available to answer any questions you may have.
Children under 3 years of age can join the tour without a charge. Food, beverages and gratuities and entrance fees are not included.
